No one is warned that healing could wear you out. It’s a natural response to the intense self-reflection, vulnerability, and emotional labour that’s involved with exploring difficult memories, feelings, and patterns. Therapy fatigue isn’t like the burnout sensation from the external stressors but is more tied to the inner work of healing—sometimes making people feel drained, stuck or reluctant to continue with the sessions, even though they recognize its benefits.
